@megmorrison86: Morning school drop-off isn't just school drop- It's reassurance after reassurance that Mommy is coming back. That I'll be right here. That he is safe. Grief has given my 6-year-old worries that no child his age should have to carry. He knows what it means for someone you love to leave and not come back, and sometimes that fear finds its way into the most ordinary moments... like saying goodbye before kindergarten. Lord, I wish I could take every ounce of his pain and worry away. I wish I could carry all of it for him so his little heart never had to feel this heavy. But since I can't, I'll keep reminding him every single morning that Mommy is coming back. I'll keep holding him when the grief shows up. And I'll keep helping him do the brave things, even when they feel impossible. He's only 6. He misses his daddy. And some days, that loss feels bigger than his little heart knows what to do with.
You should read him the book “ the kissing hand” it helped my child so much!

what if you got him one of those bracelets where you can tap to vibrate the other one as a cute little message or something?

I re read that and then thought omg.. she’s probably grieving too.. her whole world might feel like it’s falling apart on the inside but on the outside all he sees is a strong, patient loving mom

I was this child. My grandma used to say “Bunches of love for the whole day, if you need some love, it’s in your pockets.”

I lost my dad unexpectedly without warning at the age of 9. I’m 35 now and thought I handled it well my entire life until I had kids. The PTSD I face ever day is unreal 🥺 I’m terrified my kids will go through what I did. Man it’s been a hard one to navigate. I hope he gets the nervous system work he deserves at a young age and not when he’s older like me. I’m so sorry!

I saw another lady on here draw a heart on her child’s hand so the child can press it when they felt sad or anxious. Something simple and free for a little peace of mind for your boy 💚 Sending love and strength

i lost my dad when i was your son’s age, i’m 22 now. it was hard and came back to provide challenges throughout my life, particularly around my early teenage years. but my mom became my rock and has shown me women can do anything. her village stepped up and i’m so close with her family too. i went on to do well in school, participate in extracurriculars, go away for college, and become a nurse! it’ll be hard for the both of you but life does get better and you are such an amazing mom for what you’re doing ❤️🩹
