transistors are current controlling. for a npn. it's usually 1:10 ratio. for example if you want to pull 1a from the transistor you need to give it's base 0.1a. as for pnp . you just need to pull 0.1 of it's base. unlike mosfet transistors waste energy. while mosfets need a specific voltage. usually 5v for logic level and 10 for the others. yet your driver needs to give enough current at that specific voltage. to charge the inner capacitor. measured by nano columns. to find a suitable driver you just need to do this. 1000000000÷frequency. the result ÷100. the result ÷%40 then÷the mosfet nano columns or gate charge.

No. Not for a standard junction transistor. The analogy of a faucet controlling the current flow by variably restricting the current path is more appropriate to a field-effect transistor
