Officer Carpenter smelled alcohol. Karima seemed unsteady. Karima said she dropped off friends. She admitted drinking earlier. Officer Carpenter asked Karima to do tests. First was the eye test. Karima's eyes did not follow smoothly. They jerked. They stopped moving at the furthest point. Her eyes started jerking before 45 degrees. Next was the walk and turn test. Karima missed steps. She turned wrong. She did not count right. She took too many steps. The last test was the one-leg stand. Karima's foot was not right. She swayed while standing. Karima took a breath test. It showed 0.136 BAC at 2:44 AM. Her driving was bad. She admitted drinking. The tests showed impairment. The breath test confirmed it. Officer Carpenter arrested Karima for DUI. She was taken to the Pullman Police Department. There, Karima faked an anxiety attack. She talked to a lawyer a long time. This delayed her breath test. Her breath samples were 0.091, 0.091, 0.097, and 0.098. All were over the legal limit. Officer Carpenter fingerprinted and photographed Karima. She put her in a cell. Karima was charged with DUI.
