Similar issues happened during the war when American officers tried to force segregation in British establishments. The UK wasn’t perfect then my no means either, but I think the level that racism was systemised by Americans was a shock, even for the Brits.

yep I heard this story in person from Paul McCartney mouth during his concert, he always brings this up and says how shocked they were at such deep racial divide, he said England of course had racism too but not systematic one like this
