Wait? If the diesel shortage gets bad then that means anyone whom works retail, restaurant, grocery, warehouse/distribution, construction, manufacturing may be laid off due to logistics issues. Thats ALOT of people.

If you are running out of diesel, you are running out of heating oil. The alternative is going to be people switching to electricity for heating. Go and read up on the state of the US power grid. It is on the verge of collapse, and data centres are sending it even closer to the edge. Many predictions are that a failure could lead to outages that may take 18 months to fix. 75% of distribution transformers are way past replacement date. Current delivery time on replacement units are 128 weeks.
