@amy_santoro: What do you guys think about this? Seems normal to me in an effort to stay connected #truecrime #lindsayclancy #patrickclancy #60minutes #law
It’s wild to me that people are judging his grieving.

I definitely think he's just a socially awkward guy in general

It won't matter what he says, or how he says it. They have already reached their conclusion. No matter what he says, will just be further comfirmation of what they think they already know.

First, he doesn’t read as likable or genuine. And his own testimony of his own actions reflects that. I don’t think talking to his children or any deceased loved one is unusual, but it’s the “help me” that reads off. I think we talk to love ones as we would have if they were alive - ie, I ask my dad to watch over my girls and keep them safe, which he would have done if he were still alive. They were young children - how are they going to help you? Shouldn’t he have been the one to help them? If he had said he was sorry for not getting to them in time, he wanted them to know how much he loved them, that would read sincere. That’s what I probably find most odd about his behavior. Every illness that has ever befallen my children, I have innate guilt about if I could have prevented it by changing my actions. He has never expressed that kind of thinking. Never once had a conversation with Lindsay or went to see her in three years to try and get closure; I can’t imagine not feeling some guilt that you could have done something different and changed the outcome. It all reads self centered and narcissistic.

isn't he catholic? it's perfectly normal for him to "speak" to them as if they're in a better place than he is now, that's the belief!

Crying shouldn't be the only indication of grief. The police and chaplain notified me of my father's traumatic death at 4am and I went almost catatonic. Straight face, calm questions no tears. I still literally can not cry from trauma. 8 years later and therapy since then working on it. People are so judgy 🙄

As a mom who has lost a kid, I ask her for help and talk to her all the time. People who want to find him to be awful will always find a way to get to that conclusion.

no matter what he says they will twist it, i just had someone tell me "dont ask kids to help with adult stuff" not realising the kids are dead, they dont exist anymore.
they dont realise its also a form of coping and trying to get some strength out of it

he's trying not to cry. no one wants to see a man cry on tv. no man wants to be the man crying on tv even if he has every right to. still a situation where the vast amount of the public either don't understand our emotions or don't want to

So my family friend of many years lost his daughter. She was 20 years old with a heart condition. She went for a run, came home and never woke up. Her father and her were so close . In the days after people who I know that lives close to them but didn't know the man were shit talking him because they didn't see him breaking down, crying in public. They saw him keeping busy. They said "who the fuck mowes their lawn after their daughter dies, he looks like he couldn't care less" It angerd me so much . He actually said to close family and friends "if I stop, I think and if I think I'll want to die too so I keep busy, my wife needs me" The man just lost his daughter out of the blue, he found her dead, and people could do nothing but spread disgusting lies.

The people saying, “How could you ask kids to help you? They’re just kids!” are wild. He’s obviously not asking living children to take on adult responsibilities. I took it as a grieving father asking his children to help him be strong, help him get through this, and give him the strength to keep going without them. I also think he’s just an awkward guy in general. He has certain mannerisms and tics that people seem determined to analyze, but none of us know what they mean, if anything. He’s trying to navigate a situation that most people could never even imagine, and there’s no handbook for how someone is supposed to act, speak, or grieve after something like this. Sometimes awkward is just awkward. Not every facial expression, movement, or choice of words needs a sinister explanation.

I talk to my grandparents who passed all the time and ask for help and For strength. My significant other will drive over an hour to the mountains where he says he’s connected to his grandfather and late wife just to sit by nature and talk to them. In my opinion, anyone who flips this is the problem.
