Fable 5.1 is a powerhouse. But if you prompt it in the same lazy ass way that you’re prompting Opus or Sonnet, you are totally squandering the potential. The biggest mistake I’m seeing right now is people treating every AI model like it’s interchangeable. Same prompt. Same workflow. Same expectations. Then they decide the new model is “a little better” and move on. No. Fable 5.1 gets dramatically more interesting when you stop treating it like a chatbot and start giving it a real job. Give it context. Give it source material. Tell it what you’re trying to accomplish. Tell it what a great answer needs to include. Ask it what information is missing before it starts. Make it challenge your assumptions. Give it examples of work you like. Let it work through the problem instead of demanding an instant answer. And one of my favorite moves: when you finally get to an amazing result, don’t throw away everything you taught it along the way. Tell it to turn the process you just created into a reusable workflow or Skill. That’s where this starts getting stupidly powerful. A better model with a mediocre workflow still produces mediocre work. So before you decide whether Fable 5.1 lives up to the hype, look at how you’re using it.
