I can say I've never made that mistake before, usually put a bunch of rags by the rad.... cause it almost happened once😅 fins were flattened but thank God no damage... drove it for another 8or so months like that before selling.

Was bolting back up a cooling fan to the radiator and I guess I used very similar but slightly longer bolt than what was there, I used a electric ratchet and got it tight and it put a hole into the plastic pillar of the radiator

you meant to leave the nuts at the end of the bolts, that way if it comes loose, they will catch the fan for you!
