Why do they want their father’s or grandpa’s life? Are they gonna work in a factory for 12 hours a day? There were no hours of video games back then that they could hide in a room to play. Those men fix things & knew how to fix things without watching youtube. They fixed cars too.

I think the first time I actually saw a real true smile on my grandmother's face was about 5 years after Grandpa died, her then boyfriend bought her a dozen red roses - that's all it took🥺

women are now expected to do all the physical stuff without losing all the emotional stuff. men are still only being asked to do the same. women get more to do and more to learn and just step into it...men still stuck in historical times

just because you didn't see your grandfather do it doesn't mean it didn't happen. My grandfather was a no nonsense grump who failed out of college because he was spending so much time traveling to visit my grandmother when they were dating. And he wrote her love letters expressing his feelings in words too.

my grandfather gave my grandmother emotional safety. after she died he was lost. even at 27 years later. they had a good connection. it was really sweet to see when I was growing up. but I also saw the other side with my own parents. my dad never gave emotional stability to my mom and my mom suffered greatly for it.

I'm 75 and my Dad was born in 1924. He was a good husband and father. He gave my Mom his whole paycheck, cleaned and parented well. He wasn't much of a cook but we ate his fried bologna sandwiches with relish. He could and did fix everything, could build anything and, yes, my brother spent hours holding the light while he worked on the cars. He was articulate, intelligent and spent zero time lying on the couch
