Um verdadeiro privilégio no Pantanal. Os macacos-prego são animais discretos e observadores. Apesar de serem relativamente comuns, nem sempre são fáceis de encontrar, já que passam boa parte do tempo entre as copas das árvores, sempre atentos ao que acontece ao seu redor. Neste registro, um deles encontrou um verdadeiro banquete. Inteligentes e muito habilidosos, os macacos-prego possuem uma dieta bastante variada, alimentando-se de frutos, sementes, insetos, ovos e pequenos vertebrados. Cada encontro com essa espécie é uma oportunidade de conhecer um pouco mais da incrível biodiversidade do Pantanal. A true privilege in the Pantanal. Although they are relatively common, they are not always easy to spot, as they spend much of their time high in the treetops, constantly aware of everything around them. In this encounter, one of them found a true feast. Highly intelligent and skillful, capuchin monkeys have a diverse diet that includes fruits, seeds, insects, eggs, and small vertebrates. Every encounter with this species is another opportunity to appreciate the incredible biodiversity of the Pantanal.

This is so encouraging for any family delaying the smartphone! It is 100% worth it! The road can be challenging. The road can be lonely at times (find some other families to delay with you with our pledge so you are not alone). There will be times when you want to cave. Hold the line! For our family, we kept coming back to the discussion about what a phone would be needed for and we’d come to the conclusion, as a family, that it still wasn’t time. We aren’t against technology. Rather, we are working to be conscious of the right tech at the right time. Slow and steady stages… For us, the next step will be a talk and text family phone to use when needed. Almost five years ago I took a deep dive into this topic, and so many of the experts suggest waiting for kids to get through middle school without a *smartphone and social media. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m so glad we did it. A big shout out to our T-man for his courage to blaze a trail less traveled. 🩵 *I’m referring to a smartphone with untethered access. A bare bones phone with talk and text only is a different conversation. 🤓 Parents, ✅Delay smartphones until at least 8th grade with the Wait Until 8th pledge. If you need to get in touch before, check out some basic phones on our website. ✅Delay social media until at least 16+! When you do permit social media, start slowly! Set time restrictions. Monitor their social media. Check in. Talk. ✅ Keep phones out of the bedroom especially at night. No excuses!
