To answer that question, I think shaming criminology students or any course for that matter says more about the person doing the shaming than those being targeted. Intelligence isn't just about knowing how to convert files or understanding arithmetic sequences. It's also about the character, the respect, and the emotional intelligence. What's the use of being smart if we lack basic decency and manners? Smart shaming and course shaming are toxic mindsets that discourage people from pursuing their passions and discredit the value of different fields. Now, when we talk about criminology, it's not just about technical skills. It's about law enforcement, public safety, criminal behavior analysis, and upholding justice in a real-world knowledge that requires discipline, dedication, and critical thinking. The assumption that criminology students are less knowledgeable just because their expertise differs from other fields is what makes us less knowledgeable. At the end of the day, every profession has its own purpose and significance. Remember, no society can function without law enforcement, just as it cannot function without doctors, lawyers, engineers, and teachers.
