@theramseyonrelatioship: My husband is an alcoholic. I want to rebuild my marriage, but how do I forward if I'm unsure about his commitment? #husband #alcoholic
Anyone dealing with this should consider going to Al-Anon.

I Am Canadian 🇨🇦 :
I left an alcoholic husband, I had to. He soon realized the loss and joined AA. He has been sober for almost 40years.

I hate this for her, and all of us dealing with an addicted spouse! There is nothing we can do, it’s all a matter of what you are willing to live with. But for your child and yourself, please put yourself first! I will not tell you to leave because it is always more complicated than that!

I’ve heard quite a few alcoholics say they didn’t think it was so bad because they hadn’t experienced all the yets yet. Like losing their marriage, job, etc. Experiencing the yets was the eye opener that brought many out of the denial.

He could get a medical detox. Insurance may pay for that if your doctors order it. Takes a few days

Canadian here . How does a person have zero health insurance? He can’t even get the meds to help him detox at home? How do they survive without ever going to a doctor or having medication? If they can afford all this alcohol, can’t they get health insurance?

He doesn’t know how to stop. When i was in my alcoholism i would’ve chosen alcohol over my family i was so delusional. He has to get to AA. It saved me.

The woman I wanted to marry, walked out after realizing how bad my drinking was; I knew it was coming and tried so hard to control it, but couldn't; her leaving is what made me realize I needed help. Started going to AA, sober 7+ years and we're happily married now. Greatest gift she ever gave me, was her willingness to walk through the pain of leaving, it literally saved my life.

He is alcoholic, he will tell you what you want to hear.. but action speak louder then words…if he is not ready he will not stop and this is about him not you and will be not easy for him but if he really want he can manage

this was my life and this is why I left. after 20 years I'd reached rock bottom, after reaching out to him several times. I've left for my kids and my own mental health, one week in and I'm coming home from work feeling calm and at peace that I no longer have to be walking around on egg shells. sadly he will only get help when he is ready. I wish him well x

i totallt agree... i was an alcoholic and my husband said u either stop or im leaving and hes literally my everything. i stopped completely bc my prob was i didnt know when to stop when i started.. its been 4 yrs and i maybe drink once a week but i limit myself now. i quit bc i would of lost the best thing that ever happened to me... that being said, people have to WANT to get better for themselves.. when i quit i did it for my husband but also for myself. i didnt want to be that person anymore.. people have to want to be better and you cannot force. i hope she finds the answers shes looking for and i wish her love and happiness 💜

Sobriety is the best gift you can give yourself and your family . I’m coming up on 8 years sober. Sobriety is a game changer. AA, gym, church, therapy, 12 steps of AA, helping others , being of service …..helped change my life
