@hartman.poured: YOU NEED TO TRY THIS - Here’s a candle formula that actually makes sense and works, EVERY SINGLE TIME. 🕯️ I’ve been using this formula for a few weeks now and I have fallen in love with it. I’ve seen Memory Box Candle Co. talk about it in videos years ago, so I wanted to give it a try myself. Let me tell you.. it’s great! Have you calculated wax and FO this way? What are your thoughts? I hope this helps, happy making friends! ❤️ #candlemaking #candlemakingtips #candlemaker
If it weren’t for Memory Box Candle Co posting her candle math video, I would not have a business 😅 the math stressed me the hell out!

Sorry, did you say you made it simpler?

Idk why this has to be this confusing. If I’m making 4 8 oz candles I need a total of 908 g of wax/FO…. 9% of that total would be FO and 908g minus 9% would be the amount of wax I need.

When making candles, I could never get the math right 🤣. Now I keep it simple and just use a measuring cup for my soy wax. I melt the wax, then make sure I subtract the fragrance amount from the total wax needed. So, to simplify things, let's say I'm making an 8 oz candle and I want a 10% fragrance load. The total candle weight is still 8 oz, so 10% of that would be 0.8 oz of fragrance oil. That means I would use 7.2 oz of soy wax and 0.8 oz of fragrance oil. Once the wax is melted to the proper temperature, I add the fragrance oil, mix well, and pour.Thinking about it this way makes the process a lot easier than trying to do candle math every single time 😂

Can you fill the candle jar with water to see the wax weight instead of liquid wax?

Can someone explain why some say grams - some say ounces - and some say weight ? Also how is everyone checking how much ounces a vessel holds first ?

Ok people, can someone explain why you use this method??? Genuinely curious. I just used 10 different calculators and they all said the same exact answer as I always have gotten/ used. Im sticking with my formula. Its a difference of 6g FO/ candle. Huge difference!!! But always wanting to be educated. Please explain why this method. Tia 🙏☺️

I’m so confused. What is the one for. I just take my total wax x percentage of oil then subtract so 10 oz candle gets 9.1 wax and .9 oil (at 9 %)

I follow this formula and still cannot get a good hot scent throw 😭 any wax recommendations? I feel as though I keep testing waxes and they fall flat with hot scent throw. I've tried tons of different wicks and vessels, but it just seems like maybe I'm choosing the wrong wax. I make wax melts as well, and those don't seem to have good hot scent throw either. However, my cold scent throw is perfect every time.

I use candle pal app and I started using grams instead of oz because my scale is a bit wanky when it comes to oz vs fluid oz .
