They really did this with puppets 🇺🇸😭 Team America: World Police (2004), directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the same creators behind South Park, shot entirely using marionettes built by the Chiodo Brothers, the same craftsmen behind the puppets in Elf and Dinosaur. The production employed roughly two hundred people, and at times it took up to four puppeteers working simultaneously just to operate a single marionette. Parker and Stone found themselves constantly rewriting the script during filming, simply because the puppets physically couldn't do everything they'd originally imagined on paper. The most absurd detail involves Matt Damon's puppet specifically. In Parker and Stone's own words, the puppet "came out looking retarded" during manufacturing. Instead of remaking it from scratch, the two decided to just rewrite his entire personality around that flaw: in the final film, his character can only say his own name, "Matt Damon," every single time he opens his mouth. To convince Paramount to fund an entire film made with puppets, the directors pulled a prank on studio executives: the first clip they screened was deliberately terrible, a poorly made puppet in front of a badly drawn Eiffel Tower. One executive in the room reportedly yelled, "Oh God, they f***ed us." Then the camera pulled back to reveal it was actually a perfectly detailed marionette operating the crappy one, surrounded by an incredibly detailed Parisian backdrop. That exact shot, prank and all, became the film's official opening scene. #meme #xyzbca #fyp #viral #foryoupage❤️❤️
