@weather_breakingnews: September 12–13, 2026 Central Vietnam Heavy, prolonged downpours caused severe flooding in Lao Bao Commune, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province. Following the extended rainfall, the water level of the Sepon River rose sharply starting around 3:00 AM, causing the river to burst its banks and inundate low-lying residential areas in Lao Bao. Homes and land in several settlements along the river were flooded. Up to 160 families—approximately 700 people—were evacuated from at-risk areas. Between the evening of September 12 and the morning of September 13, rainfall across the province ranged from 50 to 150 mm. In certain mountainous areas, precipitation was significantly higher, reaching 218–223 mm during the same period. Over a 24-hour span, rainfall reached 300 mm in some areas, with specific weather stations recording over 400–500 mm.
