Just landed a jump from manager to a director level role (FP&A). This is really the switch that makes you good at interviewing even in less senior roles imo. I know I can do the work - does the culture and the team make sense for me in a way that makes this a mutual fit? That’s what we are trying to figure out especially when you make it to the panel interview w the C suite. They know you’ve got the technical ability atp. It’s all about is it a mutual vibe fit

I’m a retail manager earning six figures, just turned the a broken store around in two months and my regional vice president is already talking about me becoming a district manager for the company. After 4 years doing the deputy director job I sat in an interview for director at a different facility after restructuring and didn’t get it. They hired someone who is more senior than me but was not in the role before at our university. I was told not to have enough leadership experience and it crushed me. Where do I start building myself from here as I highly disagree with how this interview was conducted. Please help me understand the skills I need to acquire to be able to be more competitive next time.
