The footage shows the moment the two government vessels collided. In the second video, a Filipino crew member can be heard shouting “brace for impact!” over the radio as the Chinese ship closes in, scraping the vessel. Officials confirmed no one sustained life-threatening injuries. The Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson, Jay Tarriela, accused the Chinese vessel of executing "dangerous manoeuvres" in the coast of Palawan province. According to Tarriela, the Chinese ship initially cut across their path at a distance of only 10 metres before returning around 10 minutes later to deliberately ram them, causing severe structural damage. China rejected the account, placing full responsibility for the incident on the Philippines. They claimed the Filipino crew ignored warnings, intentionally altered their course, and suddenly accelerated directly into the path of the Chinese ship.
