Maybe he was homeless, or maybe he had a history of being unwell, like psychosis? psychosis is most known for hearing voices of dead people, either people you know or don't know which urge you to do many things, like hurt yourself and others (which also ties into schizophrenia.) I think, if we have seen any hospital records, we'd know that he was having an episode. If not? then, likely he was exploring himself, and came across the girls and thought they were there to harm him, and maybe he took action, which is why we see one of the bodies (or the doll) closest to the door. that girl was probably the first he took out, before (maybe) the other girls tried fighting him, but maybe he overpowered them by killing them off one by one? I have a lot of ideas lmao
