@theflipcat: This did NOT happen overnight 😂 Boy was recently diagnosed with asthma and prescribed an inhaler twice daily as a long-term way of managing it. I wanted to make this video because I really struggled to find videos showing how to TRAIN a cat to take an inhaler, especially one who absolutely will not sit still 💀. Most videos I found were cats who were already trained and sit perfectly still while you shove their face in a weird mask somehow. The main goal was for Boy to learn that every time the inhaler came out, something good happened, and we spent at least week on each stage shown in this video. We started with a cheap generic mask from Amazon, then switched to the AeroKat once we knew he’d need an inhaler long term, which was completely worth it. The medication stays in the chamber for around 30 seconds, giving Boy time to get his 10 breaths, and the little green flap you see moving lets me count them. Introducing the medication was by far the hardest part. The hiss and smell really threw him off, so we kept doing mask-only training in the morning and practised the medication sound/smell separately later in the day, rewarding every puff. He’s still in training but he’s made huge progress and but at one point he was having attacks every other day but now he hasn’t had one in around a month after using the inhaler consistently 🥹 I’m so proud of him. I can’t even look at his little face in that tiny mask 🫠 This is just what worked for us. Always follow your own vet’s instructions for medication, dosage and treatment plan. #cathealth #journey #catlife #asthma

Thank you for this. Our boy was diagnosed last year, we have him on liquid prednisone and have the inhaler but we can not get him to use it, so we keep it for emergencies. But this video is super helpful, I’m gonna to try. Also if you have any suggestions about cat weight loss, I’ll take them. I try to limit his food but he’s always asking for more

oh i didn't know Boy is asthmatic..but so glad to know that you're both able to manage it with your developed routine. And this is a very helpful vid on how to train our pets w the inhaler when the time comes they'd need it. Thanks for the demo!
