@picklerickursion: There is a text file on your PC that outranks the entire internet. 🗺️ Get-Content C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts Lines starting with # are comments: dead text, ignore them. Anything without a # is a live instruction. Before your machine asks the internet where a website lives, it reads that file. If the file has an answer, the internet never gets asked. One line in there can point any domain at any address, for every browser on the machine, silently. A file with nothing but # lines is normal and is the good outcome. Most of you will see exactly that. And a line being present does not mean you are infected. Developers add entries constantly. Ad-blocking host lists are thousands of lines of this on purpose. The real question is not whether there is a line. It is whether you put it there. If you did not: ・Open Notepad as administrator first, then open the file. Open it any other way and your save will silently fail ・Put a # in front of the line rather than deleting it. Reversible, and it keeps the evidence ・Then check the site again It is the cheapest redirect in computing and it is a text file with no extension. This is the polite one. It is the one I am comfortable doing on camera 👻 link in bio. Fan-made parody. NOT affiliated with Adult Swim or Warner Bros.
