@somefrenchienamedapollo: IVDD does NOT automatically mean paralysis. When Artemis got hurt, so many people immediately assumed the worst; paralysis, surgery, or that she’d never be the same. But IVDD can present very differently from dog to dog, and severity is commonly graded on a 1–5 scale, ranging from pain only to severe neurological loss. French Bulldogs are also genetically predisposed to disc degeneration, which is why understanding the signs, limiting unnecessary jumping, and taking recovery seriously can matter so much. Thankfully, Artemis is doing incredibly well and is almost completely back to herself. We’ve added a few extra precautions to what we were already doing, including couch stairs, proper rest during recovery, red light therapy, and supplements as part of her overall wellness routine. I took mine to chiropractor and that helped a lot after day 5 of crate rest, red light therapy tramadol prednisone and gabapentin and a lot of protein —seems like she still has some discomfort’s in her left leg and trying to do massages and limit walking

THANK YOU for teaching people about the health concerns that come with French Bulldogs. We lost our boy last year at 9.5 years old, from neurological complications from a back issue. I hope responsible breeders can steer the breed away from these problems because they are the best little chonks and I love them.

YES!! Bennie has ivdd too and we try to manage with red light, ramps, rugs. Acupuncture and physical therapy have been a GAME CHANGER too. It's been a few years and he walks a little dorky just bc of his body learning a gait that was compensating for the initial pain but he's come such a long way 🥰 Ivdd is not the end of the world, it takes work but it's so important to provide the accommodations and help so they can get better ❤️

Walter had grade 1. He was on crate rest and had a pain med and steroid regimen and is fine now, but I added stairs and limit jumping. I’m glad Artemis is ok now!! She’s the best.

Hey, what kind of stairs are those? Did you start them early? I think I waited too late for my first friendship and so he refused to use them.
