When I do the ladder stitch I find someone nearby and make them watch me pull it through. It’s like a magic trick. 😂

It’s a shame that they’ve removed these classes from schools. I get not only teaching the girls but teach everyone! I was just talking to my mom about how many skills used to be taught in schools. Woodworking for example should still be an option for all students.

a couple weeks after i’d bought new sheets, a corner started ripping from the edge. not sure why, but i sewed about two inches back together, lasted another 2 years being washed weekly with zero other issues. i love sewing

Sewing is such a useful skill, especially in this era of late stage capitalism it's huge knowing how to fix things instead of replacing them.

I never understood why mending and hemming and stuff wasn't taught in highschool sewing but they thought I should know how to make a pair of shorts?! Like gtfo 😂

I do leatherwork and was able to show my (then boyfriend) husband how to do a buckstitch by fixing the soft top on his 1979 jeep. that was years ago and just still holding!

I once missed a bit when cutting my toenails and a sharp/jagged edge ripped a huge hole in my mattress topper. Like wtf. But I able to just fix it and move on. Yay sewing!
