@mindiseverythingg: One thing success taught me is that not everyone watching you is rooting for you. Some people will clap in public and quietly wait for you to fall apart in private. Because watching someone actually go after their dreams can be uncomfortable. It forces people to confront all the things they keep telling themselves they’ll do “one day.” I used to take that personally. Now I understand that my job was never to convince people to believe in me. My job is to become so committed to the person I’m trying to become that applause, criticism, support, silence, love and hate all become background noise. I’ve failed. I’ve embarrassed myself. I’ve lost things. I’ve started over more times than most people know. But I’m still fucking here. And somewhere along the way I realized: The people waiting for my downfall have absolutely no power over whether I win. Only I do.
