Hmm. From my understanding OP isn’t interested in maintaining the friendship. OP’s sister is the one that pushed for them to bond, and because the man is his brother-in-law (also maybe for the sake of politeness), OP continued tolerating him. I may have to re-read it but I feel as though BIL’s little pout session/reaction was a final straw. I don’t think OP is in the wrong for calling him out for his childish behavior, nor has to apologize. It would be best for OP to be honest BIL and sister that, if I’m correct in my assumption, a friendship isn’t desirable/necessary. Just a cordial relationship would be fine since BIL is going to be a part of the family soon. It’s like being chill with a coworker but not hanging out with them outside of work.

i feel like at least one of them wasn’t actually paying attention to the actual story 😭 cause the way josh keeps saying “oh this is just because op didn’t like the movie they just need to make up” but from ops perspective dan literally acts like this all the time… op literally says dan will throw this same kind of fit when op doesn’t wanna text or hang out with him too which is why he said the whole thing about dan not having any other people to ask to be in his wedding party. Dan is immature in general not just when watching movies and everyone acting like op is in the wrong for not wanting to apologize is acting like this is just a one time thing

it's not even about the movie at that point it's about Dan being childish and always pouting until the other person says sorry and submits to whatever he wants, like I'm sorry but this is behavior you were supposed to leave behind when you fought with your friend over what video game to play. To add to that, yeah OP found it boring, but he didn't even say that??? He just yawned and that's not voluntary, it's Dan's problem if he decided someone yawning during a movie was such a big offense that he wouldn't talk with his BIL for it

I never liked the idea that you had to be friends with someone just cause their in a romantic relationship with your relative. I’d apologize to get him off my back but I’d make firm boundaries and distance myself. It’s not ops job to be the best friend this adult man never had.

I'm 45 and have never seen game of thrones, nor do I want to. I have seen the original star wars, but that's because they were on telly in the 80s and 90s. it's about choice and likes and dislikes. lotr, I have seen 100s of times though 😂
