Who ever said mental health isn’t a problem in nyc? They must be blind because I’ve seen some crazy stuff. A mentally ill homeless guy swung on me the other day while I was walking my dog leaving the post office. I didn’t do anything for him to do that. He screamed at me and started talking to himself after. He was talking to himself on the other side of the sidewalk before he swung on me so I was watching him from my peripheral vision making sure to stay clear of him but he walked to my side of the sidewalk and swung on me but I moved out the way so fast

They are going to bring her to the hospital. Sometimes they have to handcuff them while they get her to the hospital. It sucks. It’s traumatizing and demeaning. But it’s protocol

You generally cannot force an adult to attend mental health services or take medication if they don’t want to. That’s a huge part of the problem, we can recognize someone is in crisis, but there are limits to what anyone can legally do until they meet that threshold.
