This actually happened to my piano teacher. She had a similar raspy, really loud voice, and as a kid I genuinely thought she was angry at me all the time because of how she sounded. She once told me that she had to have something done to her eye, and the doctor jokingly said something about putting a needle in her eye. She screamed so hard that she apparently strained her vocal cord, and after that her voice permanently changed and became really deep,and raspy. She wasn’t actually angry that was just her voice. 😭
