For the trip home, get a buddy to go to Costco and buy the Maple Syrup you want to bring back. It's in 1 liter tough plastic bottles and $15CDN each. (or there abouts) It's shelf stable UNTIL you open it, then it's kept in the fridge. As a back up for travel put each bottle in it's own plastic bag although they're quite well sealed.
