The absolute only way a normal, sane human being could do what you do is out of compassion for the animals. I 10000% believe that humane euthanasia is better than starvation, being hit by a car, or any of the other cruel things animals endure because of humans.

i prefer strict adoption standards because at least that way the dog will be safe. otherwise any rando can get a dog and then abandon them or leave them worse off. i want dogs to be safe and in a loving home who will and can care for them. thank you for the work you do, please stay safe 🙏

Our local shelters also make it way too easy a lot of the time(clear the shelter events are THE WORST) and then often times won’t take them back, so guess who gets the fall out…the local rescues.

I personally think that landlord checks to make sure you’re actually allowed to have the animal you’re trying to adopt and vet checks to make sure you’re taking proper care of current animals should be the necessary procedure for adoption. but i know a lot of shelters don’t have the staff or resources necessary to be doing that unfortunately

I saw someone local say the local humane society is too difficult to adopt from, I was so shocked! I’ve adopted from them multiple times and they just run a simple background check(I assume) and you have to pay at pickup! Literally no other requirements!

Animal lovers are not animal people, they'll put their feelings around an anthropomorphized idea of an animal ahead of the actual wellbeing of one and stick their heads in the sand when hit with reality and facts. 😩
