It didn’t have a lot of money or food and most didn’t make it untill the age of 50 but district 12 was full of love and hope for a better future. The peacekeepers weren’t as strict as in other districts, as most that got sent to 12 were young and inexperienced and family took care of eachoter. Residents only had to start working after they turned 18 which was the reason most didn’t make it far in the hunger games but also gave kids plenty of time to grow up untill then. District 12 didn’t have books so they passed stories through song, and had been since a long time before the dark days. Although most lived in the main town there were myths about the “free people” who lived a nomad life in the inhabited areas of twelve. People get baptized, not for a modern day god but as a way to know mother nature will guide and watch you. The people in 12 had an admirable faith in the gods of nature.
