Is he an entrepreneur at home too? He has one kid and one dog. The kid is about to turn 10. The dog is 11. In 2016, his kid was born. It coincided with their Series A raise. A real challenge. Being at the hospital versus being at the table signing the term sheets. He leaves it there. But that was the inflection point that brought some calmness into how he sees the entrepreneurial life. His advice for building great products? He points to Mohamed Salah. Most people think a star is a star, no matter what team you put him in. But what makes Salah special is the triangulation around him. The players near him. Who feeds whom. That's how Glean builds its pods. Not just PM reporting chains. But PMs, designers, engineers. Who works better with whom. Talent isn't an individual in isolation. It's part of a team. Like basketball. Like soccer. The one thing he's done every day since he was a kid? He loves spreadsheets. Every prototype starts in a spreadsheet. Every idea gets designed there before it ever touches code. An idea becomes a prototype in a few minutes, and then he takes it up from there. Has reflection made him a better founder? It has. And he intends to found another company once his journey at Glean is over. Not now. But someday.
