Yes — that's the next scene right after "Light of the World" — same day, still in the Temple. That is *John 8:31-47 — The Truth Will Set You Free.* Jesus' tone changes from gentle to very direct. Jesus is speaking to the Jews who had just believed in Him in the previous scene: > *"If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."* - John 8:31-32 The Jews get offended They answer: "We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, 'You will become free'?" Jesus explains He is not talking about political slavery to Rome, but spiritual slavery: > "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin... So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." - John 8:34,36 ### Then the confrontation you remembered He tells them: > "I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. That's how you become a true disciple. 2. *Truth that frees* — Truth is not just an idea, Truth is a Person. Jesus Himself is the Truth (John 14:6). Knowing Him breaks the power of sin. 3. *Two fathers* — Jesus is dividing everyone into two families: Those born of God who love truth, and those who follow the devil whose nature is to lie, hate, and murder. There's no middle ground. This is why right after this scene, they pick up stones to kill Him in John 8:59.
