I do this with my small dogs always cut it in really small pieces. My German shepherd choked hamburger patty I watched him die tried everything it was stuck. 💔💔💔😔😔😔

PLEASE READ- As a loving grandpa I’m trying to be thoughtful. My kids were little 25 years ago so a lot has changed and awareness is better then ever. I must have done ok because I’m talking to you as a “grandpa” but I will admit to having lots of luck. So a few days ago I bought snacks for my 15 month old g-baby who I love with my entire being. I bought all “safe” age appropriate foods. Listen, I’ve bought the anti choke device, I’ve bought choppers and food cutters and any and everything I could. So I picked out some Gerber Puffs. They say on the can it “dissolves “ and is safe for kids learning to eat finger foods. Well, she was enjoying them while I was sitting there with her. All the sudden she starts messing with her nose like it tickled. I laughed because it was so cute! She rubbed her nose and then went back and pushed hard at her nose. My daughter a few feet away recognized he was CHOKING. I feel awful. I damn near cried and I don’t. My daughter grabbed me g-baby and laid her quickly iver her legs and performed upward back blows. I heard a belch/gag and then she was fine. She was without air 15 seconds tops thanks to my daughter, her incredible mother. I work i medicine and pride myself but I blew this bad. I didn’t even recognize it. She made no sounds or anything. But listen, this shit isn’t about me, I gave her food DESIGNED TO MITIGATE CHOKING. Gerber, a great company. It’s NOT Gerber fault btw. They are not at fault. They have excellent products I’m sure. This is about knowing that even foods designed to eliminate choking still can end a baby. So just know even if you dice up hot dogs, shred cheese etc baby’s will still choke SO KNOW WHAT THE LATEST SCIENCE SAYS TO DO. Hell, I’m glad I wasn’t alone because I would have held her upside down which is a big NO. No heimlick maneuver either. Watch the video on the latest. Know it. Learn it. Over the knees face down with upward flowing back blows. Good luck with your little gifts. God help and watch out for all of us! Also, know she is teething and a bit whiny… her back gums are so sore so I think she bit down and it hurt and it caused a quick “ouch” inhale and it went right in the windpipe

I heard of the hot dogs. I knew that peanut butter by itself is a choking hazard. I would cut grapes before giving to my kids abd grandkids. i literally choked on ice before.

YES! Round food including dry cereal. It was close to deadly w/my toddler twin granddaughters in rapid succession while in their high chairs. 😳😱
