I know it sounds silly but people change a lot especially when they go through trauma, like losing a job suddenly, parents dying etc. being an adult isn’t easy and sometimes people get hit with multiple things at once and in 3 months you won’t even recognize the person you married

It’s terrifying. My great grandparent died. My great grandparents were together since they were 14, they’re 86. I can’t imagine being away from my girlfriend after being with her that long

I was with someone for almost 5 years + engaged, and I think it shocked a lot of our friends and family considering I never spoke abt our problems. the truth is, your partner begins to feel comfortable that they stop caring abt the little things, but the little things can mean so much to the other. stopped checking in on me, asking me how my day was, stopped being affectionate, started to care less and less about who we were hanging out with and what we were doing, etc. There were countless nights I felt so incredibly alone while my partner slept so peacefully next to me. you can communicate and communicate how much this affects you and how it will affect your relationship but they are so comfortable in the mindset of ‘we been together for this many years, we won’t break up’ and that wasn’t the case. I fought so hard with myself because I know I didn’t fall out of love with him, and felt so guilty, but a part of me knew I was tired of talking to a wall. he’d come home for hours and we had one worded conversations and went to sleep and repeated the next day. he finally cared too little too late, it’s been a year since the breakup and I always wonder if he wished things were different. no contact, no checking in or watching each other on social media. we just let each other go.
