I was gonna share my story, but it's basically the same as the cousin with his disabled sister. The only difference is I was disabled too. They just never bothered to pay attention.

When my dad died, my brother tried to talk my mom out of their prearranged funeral contract. He wanted her to buy a casket from his “buddy”, at a lesser cost. My SIL refused my brother to come and see my newborn bc she had experienced a miscarriage. She went on to have one and turned round to a close family friend who had recently lost and said “sorry about your losses, but don’t worry, you can have cuddles with mine”. My family don’t understand why that has hurt me.

#4 is a horrible thing to say, but as someone who grew up with a severely disabled parent and ended up having to take care of them early on due to them worsening... its horrid, not only for the disabled person but for the caretaker. it ruins your mind and relationship unless you have strict boundaries and enough help.

My mom got found guilty of neglect of my sister (11yrs younger she should have been found guilty when I was a kid) bc of her drinking. Her response? “That’s ok, I just won’t drink in the house”. The family imploded a few months later.

When my brother said "why is that more important than letting me do my own thing?" when he was being confronted over tampering with our sick dad's food in an attempt to drug him. I had video of him fessing up to it and he pulled out the crocodile tears while Dad was watching it. Dad FINALLY stopped defending him simply because he was helping me take care of him and came to terms with the fact that I was kicking my brother out of the house over how toxic he had been since our dad was brought home from the hospital after he got his cancer diagnosis. It's terminal, we don't know how long he's got. I accepted the fact that our dad was never going to get better and would require more help as time went on, my brother didn't no matter how you tried to explain it to him. He wanted everyone's life to revolve around his comfort like our psychotic mother did. But he also knew fucking with someone's food or drink was a huge issue for me because of how our mother would do it to us. Though it was a botched drugging, that was way too close to an actual poisoning for me to feel comfortable with him staying in the house any longer, I was not going to wait until someone or one of the pets was sick, dying or dead to do something about him. He's now across the country and haven't heard shit from him since.

I had this friend with a boyfriend who im convinced doesnt like her... hes overall not a bad guy but he just will never do what she needs in a relationship no matter how much she begs... anyway we once again having a discussion of all his issues and how all his money goes to schmugs and 🍺🥃 and how he only "proposed" to her after she harassed him for weeks and so on... I then asked what happens if you get pregnant and this shit doesnt stop (they were actively trying atp) her response was "oh if that happens then im prepared to leave him"... girl why not leave him now?? why bring a child into this know full well who he is?? it was the dumbest shit I had ever heard, anyway after that day I stopped telling her to leave him and just pray that he doesnt get another dui except this time with their kid in the car 😤
