I think someone is already senior level when they have passed the phase for writing complex, and fancy code. Simple, and easy to understand code is better, our code will be read by humans, by our colleagues, computer will just interpret it, fancy, or simple, it's the same to them, so make sure it's easy to understand, treat it like a penmanship
