An 18-year-old Ohio man has been charged with mrder after allegedly shoting his 22-year-old brother during an attack on their mother inside the family home. According to authorities, the incident happened around 2:41 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, in North Olmsted. Abdulla Farraj, 22, was allegedly attacking his mother, younger sister and cousin when his younger brother, Ameen Farraj, 18, intervened. 911 calls released by authorities captured the chaotic moments. Their sister reportedly told a dispatcher, “My brother hit my mom and he got shot.” She clarified that Ameen was the one who fired and said he was “protecting me and my mother and my cousin.” Ameen also called 911 and requested medical help for Abdulla. According to reports, he told the dispatcher, “I had to shoot him,” explaining that his brother was hitting their mother. When asked who had been shot, Ameen reportedly answered, “My brother.” He was then instructed to apply pressure to Abdulla’s wound until first responders arrived. Abdulla was still breathing when emergency crews arrived and was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced d3ad. Their mother was also taken to the hospital after suffering an injury to the side of her face. Ameen was arrested and charged with first-degree felony m*rder. His attorney, Issa Elkhatib, argued for a low bond, saying Ameen had no criminal history and that the case was strictly one of self-defense and defense of others. However, a magistrate followed the state’s recommendation and set Ameen’s bond at $1 million. If convicted, he faces 15 years to life in prison and a potential fine of up to $15,000. According to court records, Abdulla had been arrested three times on domestic violence charges since 2023. His attorney also described a longstanding pattern of violent and verbally abusive behavior toward family members and said Abdulla had schizophrenia. The defense argues that Ameen intervened to protect his family and that, without his intervention, his mother, sister, cousin or Ameen himself could have suffered even greater harm. Was this self-defense, or should the teen face a m*rder conviction? 👀 #CrimeNews #TrueCrime #SelfDefense #OhioCrime #BreakingNews
