The beginner sets need fatter yarn for learning. took me forever on one. then I tried a different one on fatter yarn and figured it out faster. tiny yarn is hard af and they need more wording in their instructions. I learned on them and they still have me re reading a lot to understand and frogging

My hot take (and my experience) is The Woobles is the best way to learn how to crochet lol their videos are incredible - were you not using them? I’d never picked up a crochet hook, ran through 4 or 5 of them, and now can make just about anything.

the woobles kits literally taught me how to crochet. I can now make crochet wearables. Like it literally has video tutorials.

I think they’re overpriced for sure, tho I see how it can be helpful for beginner or someone who needs to see how it’s done to get it right. Their patterns are VERY basic with a crap ton of embroidery and attaching things.

I thought they were great. I liked starting with the thick colorful yarn. Didn’t have a problem with the hook either.

The woobles kit was the only way that i actually learned how to crochet. all the tutorials i found on youtube were not helpful at all, which was the opposite experience that i had for teaching myself how to knit. But everyone learns differently so one method doesn't work for all.
The woobles kits have different levels, beginner, beginner +, and intermediate. If you are just starting out make sure you get the beginner level.
Their videos also walk you through how to do everything is small segments and make it easier to repeatedly see a step until you get the hang of it. You can also find the videos on their website or youtube if you don't want to buy the kits and use your own materials instead.

Oh, I loved the wobbles. I did dozens of them. They were great and I’m dyslexic and ADHD.

Too funny. I’m the opposite. I failed to learn to crochet for years by following YouTube and TikTok tutorials. The woobles set finally helped me learn. I did one of their beginner levels. I loved the small steps and how they explained why and could easily rewatch them do the movement over and over. I loved the yarn because it didn’t split. I tried other kits and those were long videos and frustrating to rewatch the motions. For me, switching rows when doing something flat was BEYOND frustrating. So if someone reading this relates the Woobles may help you.

I think it depends on the kit. The woobles was the first amigurumi I tried and learned a lot! They taught me how to read patterns and I learned new stitches. However, I made beanies and scarves prior so I had some experience before diving into the kits.

hard agree! amigurumi should not be someone’s first project 😭 and they are way too expensive for what they are, you don’t need to be spending that much money on a new hobby. i’m a certified woobles hater 🫣

A few of them are, but most of them are not. The kits are definitely too expensive.

No they’re not I’ve tried twice and each time I’ve given up. I can’t finish it in one sitting I like taking breaks and I can’t do it with that

Nothing amigurumi related will ever be beginner friendly in my opinion. So I agree ☝️

my bff got me one from the thrift store, and the tutorial videos they give you access to are only reason i learned to crochet. youtube videos were unclear and confusing. woobles videos were so clear and well explained!

Books N Hooks :
The Woobles taught me how to crochet. I tried and tried with just yarn and a hook forever. Like I started and gave up 10 times or more and couldn’t get it. I was able to follow the Woobles instructions and videos and now I make blankets and other stuff. It may not be for everyone, but something about it made crochet “click” for me.

I disagree I found it so very helpful. YouTube tutorials didn’t make sense until following a Woobles tutorial.

Maybe this is too deep but purposely mispronouncing woobles as “wobbles” (a real word btw) and as “weebles” is giving people purposely mispronouncing Asian names bc it’s too hard.
