This video implies crimes are only done because of material conditions and does not mention people who commit crime due to conditions that cannot be solved or helped in a meaningful way. Also, prison is meant to suck. it’s a disincentive. Having a flashy and nice rehabilitation system would remove a lot of that disincentive which could lead to more crimes being committed because the thought of committing a crime would become less of a net negative over time. Another thing before op responds with how they do it in nordic countries, it works more over there because their criminals are less dangerous and fewer in amount due to less conflict in history, a strong national identity, less race conflict due to being more homogeneous, and better material conditions. It’s much easier to prevent than stop while it happens, i agree, but we’re already on the latter. Your solutions can help but i don’t think it’s enough to stop the US’s insane amount and scale of issues which will lead to much more harm being done.

instead of getting rid of prisons, you should try fixing the ways of prison such as rules. Getting rid of prisons would get the situation worse. Abolish prisons doesn't help with anything but instead yu should focus on fixing the justice system, giving the opportunities to prisoners and more but thinking about abolishing prison is very unintelligent in a harsh truth. There is a prison that gives prisoners cats and they have gotten better. The conditions, the harsh treatment, rules and more are the problem, not the concept of prison. I am sorry but this is a horrible and dumb take

I disagree with this take slightly I would only keep rapist child predators and molesters in prison plus murders for like the rest of their days right but I could see how prison could be better rehabilitation wise for non-violent criminals or some violent criminals like people charged with like manslaughter or assault and stuff like that but with the nonviolent criminals I think all of them should be able to rehabilitated especially the people with drug charges but I think all rapists should be put to death same with pedophiles and molesters

I only disagree with rape part. You can murder someone for a good reason. You can't rape a person for a good reason. And especially with people with antisocial personality disorder who have violent tendencies. You can try to rehabilitate them, but it's not gonna work

you clearly are oblivious. the reason rehabilitation is cause there is no punishment to outweigh the crime. people can fake rehabilitation to get free, unless your proposing brainwash then your taking away human rights and forcing things upon them making easier control from the government which is straight up bad. humans are the pinical of evil and thus minor things cannot sway that evil
