@daveramsey: I don't buy single stocks. They're higher risk and a lot more volatile, and you're betting the whole farm on one horse race. All it takes is that one company's leadership doing something dumb and you're the one who pays for it. I like the diversification of mutual funds. That's where all my retirement is. I invest in good growth stock mutual funds across four types: growth and income, growth, aggressive growth and international.
He knows you can buy mutuals and ETFs on Robin Hood right?

This is just goofy. I made 7% in the last month with individual stocks. ETFs are boring.

The ony people who get rich buying single stocks are politicians who write the laws that control the industries.

Never made any sense. Fidelity, Schwab, E*trade all have the same services. And offer support.

I’ve put 60% of my portfolio into the s&p 500, 20% in 30 year bond to protect against crash, and 20% single stock picks based on my own research. Despite only being 20% of my account, my single stock picks make more in total than the entire rest of the account

To truly be profitable in buying single stocks an intense amount of analytics is required. Looking at PE ratios, forward PE, PEG, how those all compare to overall industry averages, looking deep into company Financials specifically 10k, checking earnings reports, and keeping up with international/national news that could impact that companies stock price. Truly unless you have ample time or a finance degree and can understand all those ratios and interpret them its better to just buy an ETF.

You can be as diversified as the “market” with 10-15 individual stocks. And by the way be honest here Dave…at this point the “market” returns are themeselves levered to Apple, Google, etc (the handful of massive market cap stocks).

However☝🏼, the S&P 500 yields a miserable 1%👎🏼. One can get easily get an avg 6% yield from 15 highest yielding stocks in the S&P.

Except every mutual fund has single stocks, like Apple, and Google, which you can buy directly instead of having to go through the every dollar app, and the Ramsay paid advisors
