So your issue is that the young people don’t have the same opportunities yet you want to take away what they would receive in the future?

According to my reckoning that would make it about 50% of the MINIMUM Wage? 🤔

Gabriel, some good points made, don't forget retirement age was raised from 65 to 67, so a loss of 24 k overnight for me, this saved tax payers billions and overshadows any increases triple lock give.

Expressing concern for those young people is admirable but a 17yr old on minimum wage would get £14560 a year and a 22yr old on minimum wage over £23k. So are you saying the pensioner who paid tax when he was working this helping to pay for your health & education when you were young plus helped build the infrastructure you use every day, deserves less than that 17 or 22 year old?

Give extra to the boomers so future generations receive nothing! Absolute lunacy, boomers benefited throughout their lives so how about we give more attention to the younger generations instead

Yep triple lock costs the government £10 billion, pensioners pay back in tax £30 billion with private pensions tax added in so the government get £20 billion more back than they paid out go. Check

The state pension needs to be higher, at least the same as minimum wage. People have paid into it for over 35 years

the problem is the government is corrupt and does not care about younger people and keeps putting bills up we need younger people in parliament to support the younger generation

I solved the problem we should freeze min wage , that would reduce inflation and then pensions would go up by less .

Pretty much every pensioner already pays tax. Because they have other pensions on top of their state pension.

You do understand that a higher percentage of a lower amount is less than the average rise?

This will change in the future, we are of a generation that didn’t automatically get put into a company pension. Young people that you are talking about have way more chance to feather their nests with pensions and easy access to investments. We had none of these. 😁

They will pay maybe £10 a month tax, but they will still have £30 more a month than they do now

I’m sorry, but the pension going up with average pay is not the issue with triple lock. It’s actually how it should increase - keeping pensioners in line with everyone else’s pay on average. The triple lock is an issue when it goes up above average page due to the 2.5% or high inflation. I also disagree with it being an issue with tax. It’s only £430 of taxable pay - £86. So an increase of £344. Everyone who’s pay increased by 3.9% also pays more tax. The biggest issue is not really the triple lock, it’s that people who don’t need the pension are getting it. Young people should help pensioners, they shouldn’t help pensioners that earn more or own more than they do.
