@abbycazam: Here’s to keeping it real and honest! (To clarify I paid for this myself. I was not paid or anything influencery for this!) Was looking for a surf camp and came across high voltage and decided to send it. Based on reviews + instagram to seemed like a great place to surf and great place to make friends! Overall 2.5/5 stars. The surf conditions were bad. Apparently it’s their off season (although stated on website it is good “all year round”). It’s a rolling entry house system so it’s chance if there will be folks there or not. The first 48 hours it was just me and another girl. There was no staff member at the house, you just get dropped off and only contacted for surf lessons (happen once daily depending on surf). Since it was the off season, everything was closed- which should be fine but the advertised beach bar at the hostel was closed as well. Surf lessons were taught in a group even with varying levels of experience. Just by one teacher- who was on land. Truthfully I just came in expecting to make a bunch of friends and have a ton of fun. Like how I saw on Instagram! There was a couple of wack comments thrown around that I didn’t love but chose to ignore. There was just more things to worry about. It does pain me to make a review and have it be negative but it feels right to do since almost all reviews are positive? 5/6 people that ended up being in the house with my agreed. So here is how I felt! I definitely can say I’m walking away a more confident surfer since you are just thrown into the deep end. Kinda can’t wait to surf again and see how I’ve improved. But for now, stoked I ain’t there anymore. Happy to answer any questions 🫪🥴🫣
