The bottom line is that there will never be ethical breeding so long as shelter animals are being killed. These “responsible shoppers” are deep down just prejudiced against shelter dogs and they go mask off when pushed hard enough. They don’t support rescues or our cause.

Adopt or shop RESPONSIBLY. You don't have to be a breeder to be educated on getting the dog that best suits your needs. (Also getting a dog from a shelter is STILL making a purchase.)

it’s not just the breeders, plenty of people who are actively working on animals welfare are saying adopt or shop responsibly. Because you can’t force people to adopt dogs they don’t want and you can’t shame people into not buying animals they do want.

Worked in rescue for 8 years and proudly adopt or shop RESPONSIBLY!! Ethical breeders/breeding does not contribute to the overpopulation of shelters and I actually had multiple ethical breeders near me that directly worked with us to donate, foster, volunteer with the shelter. I currently own a rescue but my next dog will be a purebred as I’m looking into a breeder who selects and helps some of their pups become SDs. I will likely rescue more dogs still while having a future SD because I love a house full of dogs though 🫶 much love to anyone or adopts or shops responsibly (much hate to those who do it irresponsibly and unethically).

Hey so not everyone wants dogs as lazy pets! So no a shelter dog will not fit everyone’s live style and their goals.

My purchase of a wellbred purebred didn’t contribute to the shelter crisis or prevent a shelter dog from being adopted. Bc if I didn’t get her, I wouldn’t have gotten another dog <3

hey so some people can't work with dogs with unpredictable health and temperments. adoption an animal is always good, but some people need well bred animals for things such as service work because they're predictable and generally easier to maintain health-wise because there's more predicability in health.

Your just adding to the shelter population with “adopt don’t shop”… it’s stupid 😅

Adopt or shop responsibly ♥️there’s room for both. Adopting from a shelter or rescue and buying from an ethical breeder are both very valid choices that someone might choose for various reasons. Judgement only pushes people away from your cause.

Adopt and shop responsibly encourages others not to support backyard breeders or to recklessly adopt without knowing what you can handle. When you acquire your next dog RESPONSIBLY, you don’t contribute to the shelter crisis

Idk using impossible to breed responsibly or ethically dogs (aka a mutt like a goldendoodle or dogs that can’t even give birth unassisted) as an example of a dog people buy from ethical breeders destroyed your argument cause it just shows you don’t really know what ethical breeding means. Those dogs don’t come from ethical breeders. That’s BYB. I don’t think solving the shelter crisis is as simple as eradicate breeders or not doing so. Yall need to accept it’s more complex than that because there’s MULTIPLE factors on why we are here now.

as someone who spends tons of time in the shelter most of these dogs are not healthy and are unpredictable. What we really need is more regulations around breeding. ethical breeding is the solution to the shelter problem it's also the fact that we are importing 100s of thousands of dogs into the us for consumers per year making the issue worse
