@trendtrivia127: After years in exile, the remains of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, finally returned home to Ghana and were laid to rest in his hometown of Nkroful, in the Western Region. Nkrumah had died in April in Bucharest, Romania, after spending six years in exile in Guinea following his overthrow in the February 1966 military coup. His return home came after prolonged negotiations between the Guinean government and Ghana’s military rulers. Among those who gathered to mourn him were his widow, Fathia Nkrumah, and his mother, Madame Nyaniba. A eulogy from Ghana’s then Head of State, Colonel Ignatius Acheampong, described Nkrumah as a leader who had fought relentlessly against colonialism and racism.
