Hollywood is literally the city of ads tv shows and media you can’t get mad at the sign being used for what the city has been known for years. Especially when you choose to live there

Ok I low key love it. Maybe not with ads all the time but i think it would be cool if they hired artists to make different projections that they change periodically. They could also only show the projections on certain days if it’s annoying for local residents

Respectfully, I’m a need to see a view from a nearby resident to see that it’s bothering them because and I understand there’s circumstances for everybody but why move near something so popular if you don’t wanna be a part of it? That’s not me being me. That’s just a genuine question.

I’ve been trying to think of why it bothers me. I know it’s an advertisement, and I know Hollywood runs on that. I guess I just want it to be special and classy. It has a certain cachet. It’s the glamour Hollywood has lost a lot of that glamour and I just don’t wanna see a big ad for a roller coaster on the Hollywood Sign.

You know what if it helps pay for the sign and it upkeep I’m open to it. The thing seems to always need funding. Ads would bring it to life and help pay to keep it maintained.

I remember when they did this projection mapping on the sign for the first time in 2022. They have had the equipment so why not 😭? I wish they would do it more often, but yes the neighborhood nearby opposes it 😢😑.

My Stepdad Andre was the structural engineer on the 1978 rebuild. He ordered all of the steel and his name is welded on the side of the O. He loved it when the sign was used for interesting things. It was built in 1978 by a billboard company PACIFIC OUTDOOR ADVERTISING.
