@thenordikzombeee: My name is Mary Colbert, and my two-year-old daughter, Lilly, is fighting Stage IV neuroblastoma. Lillith Eloise entered the world already fighting for her life. She was born at just 30 weeks and 6 days and wasn't breathing when she was delivered. Doctors had to resuscitate her, and she spent 54 days in the NICU. On January 19, Lilly was admitted with RSV. Four days later, on January 23, she was diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma. Everything changed overnight. After starting chemotherapy, Lilly became critically ill. She developed severe fluid overload while fighting RSV, PJP pneumonia, rhinovirus, and influenza. On February 4, she was placed on ECMO. She remained on life support for 51 days. There were days we were told to prepare for the possibility that she wouldn't survive. On March 26, Lilly was taken off ECMO after 51 days while running a fever of nearly 104 degrees. Against the odds, she survived. Since then, she has completed six cycles of chemotherapy and underwent a six-hour surgery that removed approximately 95% of her tumor. She also recently underwent her stem cell transplant. We hoped we could finally catch our breath. But Lilly's fight wasn't over. On Friday, September 11th, Lilly's oxygen repeatedly dropped so low that she had to be manually bagged several times to help her breathe. Then, on Tuesday, September 15th, she developed 104° fevers and respiratory distress. Her heart rate was in the 200s, and her medical team was concerned she could be septic. She was transferred to the ICU. Once again, we found ourselves terrified that we might lose our little girl. But today, September 18th, Lilly is being transferred back to the oncology unit. She is still fighting. After everything her little body has endured, she is still here. Lilly has spent nearly her entire life overcoming things no child should ever have to face. Her story is about childhood cancer, but it's also about resilience, hope, and a little girl who continues to fight. Every child deserves the chance to grow up.
