This is the first video of yours that has truly triggered me, I know why my bio dad used to get mad at me for little things like knocking over a glass behind closed doors never in front of extended family just those who wouldn’t care. Yesterday I was out with friends and knocked over two drinks and I didn’t realize till now that they had no negative reaction to that except that it was a slight inconvenience.

on my end turns out I am clumsy! but my current bf just laughs and helps me up when I fall or helps me clean or takes the kids so I can clean it up without a bigger mess happening 🤣

The residual internal reactions were so hard to get past. I’d have the same physical anxiety when I did things after separating that would trigger him during marriage. Like I was worried for you when you knocked that cup over and literally why. Abuse.

I had a "your clumsy" thing, my debit card would go missing so often and he would tell me I was just forgetting it places or losing it. since leaving I still have the same debit card. so I learned it wasn't me.

I wasn’t paying attention and handed him a plate of food. I put it on his wrist instead of his hand. He told me that clearly I never learned that skill, and argued that he needed to teach me to hand him things.

My ex husband would say any accidents I had (from injuring myself, breaking or damaging an item, or forgetting things) were not accidents because accidents can’t be prevented, therefore it wasn’t an accident. Which makes way less sense when I’m not trauma bonded

Forgot something at home when we left, we weren’t even a full minute into the drive when I realized and let him know. Because I made a common human mistake I was labeled a “child, stupid bitch, the R word” and more. But when he forgets something it’s just a “common mistake” or more often than that, somehow got blamed on me😅 you can’t win with them

I had this with my memory. my ex would just tell me I needed to try harder. but without the stress of that man around I remember things much better.

I literally knock something simple over and have a full breakdown and start calling myself stupid and clumsy and say I can’t do anything right bc that was always my ex husband’s reaction….. my bf now will hug me, help me breathe and tell me to be nicer to myself bc accidents happen and we’ll pause then clean up whatever happened and half the time it’s as simple as picking up a can I knocked off the shelf not a big deal at all….. but I still snap into the negative mental space of it when it happens……

You are a good person, but He clearly hated you. Why was he so insistent on controlling you if he hated you so much.

I noticed after he moved out, I no longer fall randomly. Or spill things. Or get caught on a door knob. Odd.

My 2 young daughters would drop, spill and at tunes throw up. Once he started traveling for work and was gone 2 weeks at a time, we were totally different people. I began planning for my divorce.

i was "clumsy" too. We got a new sofa (with my money as he didn't work), I wasn't allowed on it with a drink, I had to sit on the floor until it was done, then I could sit on it. 🙃

He used to make me drive. He would complain relentlessly about how I drove, but he would never drive. The kids picked it up, they still criticize me because that’s how they learned car rides work. I drive just fine, but I did make more mistakes when the entire car was waiting for me to make a mistake so they could all yell at me.

funny I spilled a lot more with my ex and I would drop things just simple things that didn't really matter but he would be irate if I would drop it it would be my own thing something plastic it didn't get broken I just had to pick it back up it wasn't that he was going to pick it up he was just irate instantly if I dropped anything at all or spilled even a little bit even just water even outside crazy it is crazy. I don't do nearly as many clumsy things because I'm not a nervous wreck he would be making me a nervous wreck I'd start shaking a little bit and dropping crap and then I'd be more nervous and he get more angry and that many more nervous I drop more trip more spill and then be in trouble for that

I became very good at catching things as they fall/fall over, because to my abusive mother, the fact that I dropped things/knocked things over was so unacceptable. Catching it nefore it could take damage at least minimized the reaction
