@michaelpernarealestate: Gas jumped another 20 cents a gallon overnight Wednesday into Thursday, and stations are crossing $5. ⛽ As of Thursday morning the state average was $4.75, up from $4.54 the day before. You can still find a $4.95 or a $4.85 if you look. But there are pumps around here that start with a five now, including a Shell in Madison Heights at $5.04 Thursday morning. Don't even look at diesel. $6.54 a gallon, and that's a new Michigan record for the third day running. I told you last week oil crossed $100 a barrel for the first time in a long time. This is what that looks like at the pump. A few things you can actually do: GasBuddy is free and it ranks every station near you lowest to highest. That alone saves you a few cents a gallon. Speedy Rewards at Speedway is free to join, but know how it works. It's points, not a flat discount. You earn 10 points a gallon and 20 per dollar in the store, and 1,750 points gets you 10 cents off a gallon on one fill-up. 4,375 gets you a quarter off. Costco is usually among the cheapest around if you've already got the membership. On the tax side, the state senate and the governor could suspend Michigan's gas tax, which is 52.4 cents a gallon. It wouldn't be unprecedented. Utah cut its state gas tax 15% through the end of the year, and Indiana has its suspension extended through October 5. The catch is real, though. That money funds our roads, and nobody around here thinks Southeast Michigan roads need less money. And there's no end in sight on the cause, because the conflict driving it doesn't have one either. I’m both a Costco and a Sam’s Club member and Sam’s is consistently lower than Costco. They’re literally right by each other.

This is a state level problem. Blame our democrat run state 😤. Other red states don’t have this problem. People in Indiana reporting around $3.50 for gas. No excuse! They are price gauging because they can and our gas tax is robbery! One of the highest taxes compared to other states! Our governor needs to fix this NOW! No excuses, just solutions!
