@drbeckyatgoodinside: Every day, as parents, you’re the pilot of your family’s plane. You make decisions - about bedtime, screens, snacks, toys - that your child might protest. Your child’s protest doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It means you’re doing something important. As much as they protest, your child doesn’t actually want to fly the plane. They want to know you’re in control, even when they’re shouting from the passenger seat. Deep down, we all feel safest when someone says: “I know you’re upset. And I’ve still got this.” That’s what sturdiness looks like and it’s what build trust in the long-run. Thank you @callherdaddy for having me on. Of the first two described, I had one of each parent. As a result I find it so hard to sit in hard emotions without freaking out or trust my own judgement. How can I fix this??
