im currently in school for hvac and working (not in the field) and making 25/hr i can tell you now im not going to take a pay cut after 8 months of 16 hr days, taking a loan out to pay for school, putting the 1600 miles a month on my personal vehicle to get to said school. $25/hr should be the minimum for a certified tech period. a green apprentice no epa cert should be $20.

This is the reason senior technicians are leaving the trade the GAP 20 years of experience only gets you 5 to 8 dollars more. In today's economy there's not enough of a GAP. There should be at least a 10 dollar Gap if not more.

hire at $20-22. if he's never ran a call by himself then everything you said he can do he has done with help. gotta see what he can do solo first

I want $50 an hour. I will bring in at least 5 times the amount you pay me. But the problem is I will bring in this amount of money fixing stuff not selling stuff and companies don’t like that.

I'd offer him $25 an hour with a 6 month probationary period and $30 an hour after the 6 months.

I would do 25 an hour after 90 days with that being said I definitely would spend some time training him on the dummy unit and make sure he’s got a good understanding and is ready to run diagnostic service calls on his own

Possible depending on his attitude and willingness to learn. More likely $23 with a review after 90 days. How old is he?

all depends on where your based out of. 25 isn't a starting wage in my area, almost every company thats not the union, starts around $16-20 depending on what they have for equipment, but again its dependent on locations, when most starting jobs in your area are $10-14, just because you have the epa cert and 1 year experience as a helper doesn't make you a tech. so 20-25 would be a really good wage around here to start at.

Uncertified helpers are worth $25 an hour. Cheap companies keeping the wages low ruins the free market.

If trainable then yes 25 is good you can always teach him how to run calls people out here want that much with no experience and no tools lol
