@crmnallyobsessed: Three people were connected to the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Job Corps student Colleen Slemmer — but only one was sentenced to death. Christa Pike, 18 at the time of the killing, was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy and sentenced to death in 1996, becoming the youngest woman to receive a death sentence in the modern era. Tadaryl Shipp, who was 17 at the time of the murder, received life with the possibility of parole, while Shadolla Peterson pleaded guilty to being an accessory and received probation. Anti-death penalty advocates argue Pike’s jury did not adequately hear evidence about her mental health, brain impairment attributed to prenatal alcohol exposure and history of being sexual assaulted, during sentencing. Now, more than 30 years after Slemmer’s murder, Pike’s execution is scheduled for Sept. 30, 2026. If carried out, she would become the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years. Swipe through to see how three people connected to the same murder ended up with three very different sentences — and why Pike’s case is back in the spotlight.
